World Foundation Receives 'Principal Registration" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

PHOENIX, Arizona - (Sept. 12, 2000) - The World Foundation, one of the sister foundations of the American Foundation, has been granted principal registration with the United States Office of Patents and Trademarks for assisting charitable foundations and philanthropic organizations throughout the world.

Founded in 1997, the World Foundation works in conjunction with the American Foundation to encourage and facilitate international giving by allowing American donors to make tax-deductible charitable contributions to overseas charities.  Traditionally, direct contributions to overseas charities and charitable programs from private citizens and corporations generated no U.S. tax deductions.  Now, through the World Foundation, families and corporations can receive U.S. tax deductions for their contributions to international programs.  The World Foundation is a vehicle to allow contributors the opportunity to direct and become involved in their own giving while allowing them the tax and financial incentives available under current law.

"As needs for charitable dollars increase around the world, U.S. taxpayers now have the freedom to meet real needs at home and abroad," says Ben L. Schaub, Founder and Founder of the World Foundation. "Statistics prove time and again that when individuals are involved in their own giving, having the freedom to contribute to worthy causes of their choice, three important things happen. First, the charities to which these philanthropists give run more efficiently.  Second, the givers themselves become better people for the choices they have made.  And third, the contributors give more.

"Direct donor involvement can bring about mighty changes in the giver and the receiver of these funds.  Now, the American Foundation can provide a spectrum of choices for its members-both domestic and international.  We believe that these choices will accelerate the growth of good in the world."

The American Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that works with individuals, families, corporations, communities and professional advisors to establish charitable foundations and gift plans of all kinds.
